1. What can Cardiff Medicals RFC offer you?

Cardiff Medicals RFC offers a unique experience to all students, particularly drawing from healthcare courses. We combine the right brand of exciting rugby with an unrivalled social ethos.

Both our 1st and 2nd XV’s compete within the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues, as well as competing in the National Association of Medical Schools Cup (NAMS), both of which are high standards of rugby.

The social aspect of our club allows like-minded future students to enjoy the other side of rugby, not only with other students, but with Old Boys who have gone before them, creating lifelong friendships. We run almost weekly socials on a Wednesday night after games, as well as bigger social functions such as Christmas Dinner and Old Boys dinner (our annual black-tie event). We also have tours, the most recent being in 2023 to Edinburgh and in 2021 to Dublin, and will no doubt have another planned during your time at Cardiff.

We ensure to give back and in recent years have undertaken several charitable endeavours, raising money for the Velindre Cancer Centre, in Cardiff, and the Ted Senior Foundation, a mental health charity. In 2022 we took part in the Cardiff half marathon for Alopecia UK and the Ted foundation. Our North to South Wales bike ride and Welsh 3 peaks challenges raised over £15,000 for charity. These events are something any member can get involved with.

We also have a team gym session on Thursday evenings at the Cardiff University Fitness and Conditioning Centre. These are a great way to improve your size, strength and fitness as well as being a social event for you to bond with the team. The sessions are run by the Fitness and Conditioning staff in the gym and organised by our specialist strength and conditioning Secretary.
